You can still listen via WMP or RP or Winamp - you just have to do it via l365 and not shoutcast. Membership for you to l365 is free. And yes, it cost JERIC to run the shoutcast streams, too. _________________ 'He looked at her, and being a man whom pity deeply stirred, it seemed to him that her loveliness amid her grief would pierce his heart.' —Faramir's thoughts on Éowyn |

Your proxy could have died or network admin put a stop on the live365 stream if you weren't using a proxy. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

I understand the move, really I do. The only problem I have is that you can't see the titles and composers if you use a third party player (ie winamp). When I hear a soundtrack that I don't know, I like to know what it is. I have found a neat way around this though, and that is to use the SST webpage top frame (http://www.streamingsoundtracks.com/modules/SAM/Now_Playing.php) and minimize it to my tray so it's not in the way. Thought this might be of interest to others.

I admit that is the only problem with Live365 when using a 3rd party player. Like you said though, keeping the "Now Playing" up is a good idea and it gives you even greater detail. I think most people keep the Queue page up while listening. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

As someone using a very small user-base platform that you've probably never even heard of (RISC OS), where the browser situation isn't all that great, I'm wondering if I'm out for good. There's no way any of the browsers are going to be able to play Live365 web interface, and the FAQ instructions appeared to rely on WinAMP or other things it know about. Bascially I'm stuffed without an IP and port number to connect my player to (it could handle the old playlist files).
So, out for good or not? If it's free then I suppose I've nothing to lose by trying. |

Web browsers have proxy support too. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

Call me ignorant if you will, but I don't see how that's going to help. The browsers I've got are no use for anything audio. It'll probably be able to launch something like a playlist file into another app, though. |

Live365 has a pop-up web player. If you set your proxy in the browser, the stream will play through that proxy, through the pop-up web player. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

Ah, excellent. It does work! Eventually get it to give me a PLS file, which I can handily drop into the player. Well, sort of. Had to drop it into a text editor, then save it, then give it the correct RISC OS filetype, then drop it into the player, but it worked. By bothering to set things up a little better I may be able to bypass the load-into-editor-then-save step.
Now you've just got to nag me into paying something |

No more ogg? Ah well. At least now I know why the link in WinAmp shoutcast listing is dead. ^_^ _________________ How many people get to have their own symbol just for them? ™ |
