I think I've already read that somewhere on that board, can't remember where...
Will the score by Doyle be based on Williams' themes (just like Jurassic Parc 3 was?) Or will it be all new (like Goldenthal who didn't use Elfman's themes for Batman 3 & 4)? |

Patrick Doyle is writing the score for Harry Potter 4? That's an interesting choice. It would be kind of odd watching a Potter film without the themes Williams has written. I've actually really enjoyed his work for those films. |

It will be very interesting if and how much it will have an affect on the movie. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

I hope Doyle keeps Williams' theme for the intro and does something interesting with the rest.
He's a good choice because he can create some heartfelt music.
I have a feeling Doyle's work may be more understated than Williams' bold approach in HP3. I don't think Doyle has done the full out action stuff as often, so that will be interesting to hear. |

Some time ago, there was an article over at www.darkhorizons.com claiming that Pulp's Jarvis Cocker ( ) is doing the score. I emailed Garth (the nice guy who runs that site) and submitted the correct info ( = that Patrick Doyle is writing it). He updated it, but according to a "reliable source", Jarvis Cocker is, in some way, still involved in the making of that score. If that's really true (I'm still very sceptical about it): What the hell are these Harry Potter producers doing over there? |

In the movie there will be a "yule ball" (like in the book). Jarvis Cocker will most probably be writing the songs for the band playing (the weird sisters). |

I loved the score for HP3, it was rich and enthralling, and actually started to introduce interesting variations to the main themes. And even though I am a Williams fan, I am also a big, big Doyle fan, and I'm just so thrilled I can't stop jumping around.
Also, it was time Doyle got back at John Williams, after Williams basically kicked his score our of Stepmom to include his. _________________ --

im not a potter fan, nor do i care where the movies go or end up. but ill share some thoughts about the music side of it.
i think its likely doyle will continue familiars of the last 3 movies however he will try and weave his own new material into the score and marry it together. or theres the possibility he will totally ignore everything and start fresh. now before anyone bad mouths this, this is not necessarily a terrible thing.
silvestri's ignored goldsmith's work on the mummy returns and the score for that film was amazing. so just think what a fresh perspective doyle can do for harry 4. |

I just read recently that Doyle will keep basic themes from the previous movies...such as "Hedwig's Theme" and whatnot.
As such a huge john williams fan i'm a little disappointed, but he's already doing 4 other films, so I'm sure he's a bit busy. |

From what I've heard of Patrick Doyle he has a style remeniscent of John Williams, so I'm kinda looking forward to this ST to see what he has come up with. _________________ "Anything one man can imagine,
