Statisticly speaking, it would be Mozart, bach Beethoven, Vivaldi, and then......John Williams and so on. _________________ "Two wrongs do not make a right, but three rights make a left"

I believe that Horner may be more recognizable (since hsi themes sound VERY similar) _________________ We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. I'd definitely have to say John Williams. His work is recognizable to people who don't even care about soundtracks. I mean, the guy did Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Star Wars...he's a genius! |

Without the shadow of a doubt I would say Horner. Not only are the instruments alike but the motifs are almost the same. I do not mean by this that it is not good but when you like one, you like all...
15 years ago I would have said Williams but when I hear Schimdler's list I'll admit that he can sound definitely different.
Hans often sounds familiar but one could get confused with those he works with. Sometimes I recognise him because of Lisa Gerrard... (ie. Black Hawk Down)

It's easier to recognise a composer when it like it
So, I easily recognise Dany Elfman and Basil Poledouris. |

Of course, it is Hisaishi for me!
I can usually recognize him in seconds, even on tracks I never heard before (well okay, there are not many tracks from him I never heard before )! I guess when you really like a composer, you know his works and how his music 'sounds'! _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

I of course agree on Hisaishi. Karna is right on about Poledouris as well. Basil is very distinct, once you heard one you have hearsd them all. CROMMMMM! _________________ Pixie "Actually Tree, I wasn't referring to you as a dingus, but seems like you might just qualify as one now!" |

Wow, that´s a bold statement, TreeBob!
I think, Basil is more varied than that. I´m not sure if I would/could recognize scores like It´s My Party, Les Miserables, Amanda, Kimberley or Serial Mom (e.g.) at once as typically Poledouris. |

I am bold and stupid I am sure there are some that sound different, but when he comes up in the queue I generally can tell it is him. _________________ Pixie "Actually Tree, I wasn't referring to you as a dingus, but seems like you might just qualify as one now!" |

Is Horner predictable as well? No, I was talking about Basil. _________________ Pixie "Actually Tree, I wasn't referring to you as a dingus, but seems like you might just qualify as one now!" |

John Williams, Alan Silvestri, James Horner. These I could pick out if I tried or heard something by them. _________________ There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. |
