Doremi: were some Ghibli DVDs already released on the german market? |
As far as I know now:
Apart from Mononoke and Chihiro, which were released shortly after their cinema release, Nausicaä is available since Sep. 5th and Kiki will be released in November. The Cat Returns is scheduled end of 2006.
Hotaru no Haka is available since 2002. Thanks to ARTE! |

Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the fireflies) was also released in France in 2002, also thanks to the TV channel Arte
In France we have Mononoke Hime (2 different versions, standard to deluxe), Chihiro (2 versions as well), Laputa, Kiki's delivery Service and Cat Returns. We also had Porco Rosso years ago (back in 1999) but it is not available anymore (will be re-released some day).
We're waiting for Totoro and Howl Moving Castle. The first one was to be released in september but it was cancelled. The second is awaited for November but no news (so maybe bad news) for some time.
We also have movies where Miyazaki and/or Takahata were involved (Chie the brat, Goshu the Cellist, Horus; etc...) and tv series (Conan, Sherlock Holmes, etc...). Overall, I think we're lucky over there
Hey, wait, how is it possible that Hisaishi doesn't win the poll? 10 vs 13! Not good _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

I have fallen for Hisaishi and just love his piano pieces(being a piano player myself ). The music is just beautiful! Thanks SST for opening my eyes to such a wonderful composer! |

Glad to have you on board, Asriana
I discovered a lot of wonderful composers thanks to SST, but Hisaishi still remains my favorite so far _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

Hi, haven't been here for a week or so. How is everyone?
Welcome to the HFC, Asriana! It's nice to have you here.
BTW, Alchemist... about the poll. I'm not able to vote, never was actually. I have been wondering - Could it be expired? |

It seems to be up and I don't remember giving it an expiry. The problem with the polls is you can't edit them.
I have been gone a long time. How is the club doing? _________________ Pixie "Actually Tree, I wasn't referring to you as a dingus, but seems like you might just qualify as one now!" |

You were on vacation, right? I'm myself a bit exiled as I have to work in Belgium for a month (800 km away from home) but fortunatly I come back on week-ends and I have sometimes a working internet connection at the hotel.
I can't tell if the poll is working or not, but I'd consider the later option as the voting didn't change in a very long time...
Appart from that, I received the Ghibli Calendar 2006 which is very, very pretty _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

I'm not sure the poll is working, Alchemist. I wasn't able to vote for Hisaishi .
Belgium?! They had some good food there! |
