I'm looking forward to Eragon and Charlotte's Web, Flicka by Aaron Zigman, The Good German by Thomas Newman, The Departed by Howard Shore, The Blood Diamond by James Newton Howard, although those CDs could come out later than the films. Curious about the Children of Men by John Tavener since I'm all ready to jump in the theater seat for that one! |

Well there are plenty of scores coming out that show some promise but the ones I am looking forward to the most are:
1. Charlotte's Web by Danny Elfman (if the background music on the website is his music it sounds like this could be a very nice score along the lines of a Black Beauty score)
2. Eragon by Patrick Doyle (I have been really impressed with a lot of his recent output and definitely think this could be a good one)
3. Red Dawn by Klaus Badelt (Sounds like a good set up for a great score. I am a fan of several Badelt scores and after his Promise score I think this could be great as well)
4. Apocalypto by James Horner (well this also has a lot of promise for a score and I am hoping for something very good)
I am interested in several others on the list but these are the main CD's that I am interested in. Zirael mentions the Blood Diamond which I have heard nothing about but I always look forward to a new James Newton Howard so that should be interesting as well. Sounds like there are a lot of potential great scores in the pipeline, let us hope that some of them turn out to be great! |

This needs a bump now that I've converted it to a poll.

"Legendary film Director Werner Herzog recently collaborated with composer Klaus Badelt and LMO for the soundtrack to his new movie Rescue Dawn.
"The movie which stars Christian Bale, tells the story of a US Fighter pilot's struggle for survival after being shot down on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War.
"Klaus Badelt's haunting and emotional soundtrack was scored for 42 strings, 2 harps, 2 percussion and piano and was recorded at Abbey Road studio 2 by Nick Woolich (engineer). Andy Brown was the Music Director and the sessions were monitored by Klaus Badelt in Los Angeles and Chris Brooks (music editor) from a hotel room in Ohio!" -News: London Metropolitan Orchestra 9/9/06 (?)
Wow! I'm real curious about this now! Too bad no word on an album release yet _________________ "I'm Batman" |

THE NATIVITY STORY by Mychael Danna
ERAGON by Patrick Doyle
This was hard because I haven't heard of some of these but based on other scores, these are the two I am most looking forward to hearing. |

UPDATE:
FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS is reported to be composed by CLINT EASTWOOD not by Lennie Niehaus anymore.
I'll confirm this myself when I heard the world premiere suite played at the next concert I'll be attending.

I think Apocolypto should be really good. at least I hope so. The film looks to be epic in nature so I assume the score will be too. We shall see though. |

FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS has proven to be the most disappointing score of the winter thus far =(
Man, what a wasted opportunity to provide a powerfully, moving score for what could've been a powerful movie. _________________ "I'm Batman" |

I agree, Doyle´s last works are very interesting and the epic story of the film is promising too

Now that basically all of these scores have been released I am curious to hear if people think the music lived up to their anticipation. Personally I did not vote in the poll but I was definitely looking forward to Eragon and Charlotte's Web the most. Of those two, I gotta say I was more impressed with Charlotte's Web, but thought both scores were strong efforts. |
