i dont like recreations of songs that destroy the original track. It ruins the old one somewhat too. |

I have to say that I don't hate.....but strongly dislike...... Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Is it me, or is John Williams getting careless?
The 1st 3 Indy soundtracks had highly memorable themes. It was intense and exciting. At the right times, it could take it easy. This one was on the verge of being annoying. It was overly slow, and the only memorable theme was the crystal skull which wasn't that attractive to start out with. None of the themes were exciting.
It feels like they pulled a Phantom Menace on us with this one. We got like...not even half of the score from the film. It's very incomplete and the stuff they gave us is very slow and boring. But then again....we all know how Lucas Arts is. Just like the Star Wars films and music, release 1347356345 versions of it and generate anger among fans because LucasArts cares only about money and doesn't want to release a simple package and then a complex and then maybe something for a 25th anniversary years later instead of releasing the same thing alllllll the time with little different things.
As a hardcore Indiana Jones fan and a soundtrack fan, I'm hoping that with the fall release of all 4 films on cd, we will see COMPLETE music like we had with Phantom Menace.....but I'm having doubts. |

"Hate" is too strong word here, but I didn't want to open another topic and decided to bump this old one up.
First, I'd like to tell that I don't like "TeeVee Toons: The Commercials" album.
I can imagine this CD probably has some sentimental or entertaining value for some SSTers (especially from the USA) but for me it's nothing more than just commercials (the tracks sound exactly like commercials and I think they stand out from the stream and don't fit it too well). JERIC always wanted to keep the stream commercial free and I always feel some kind of little discomfort when I hear those commercials. Even if they sound old too.
I don't want to start a campaign to remove the album from the playlist. It is just my opinion I wanded to voice and share.
BTW: I just hope that "TeeVee Toons: The Commercials" album just won't be too popular in the future and my little problem with it will become even smaller
Second, I want to say (just for the record), that I have an impression that we've got more and more vocal tracks in the queue... I was not counting them, so I'm not completely sure - but it's my impression that has come to me while listening to SST lately.
Again, I'm not planning to start "no-vocals at SST" campaign (I love many vocal cues here myself). I just wanted to share this being curious if anyone else has similar feeling...

Molossus, I think I understand what you're saying, at least about the commercials. I liked the album at first for the novelty, but now I too find the inclusion of commercials in the stream jarring.
I don't know that there are more vocals. At least, I don't think there's been an influx of vocal tracks to the playlist, so maybe they're just more popular to request. Again, I don't know. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

That's exactly what I suspect Lady... _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Ooh nice topic! Wish I would've found it sooner.
On my "strong dislike" list would be Be Prepared and The Schnitzel Song from Hoodwinked. I get that they are funny and catchy songs but OMG we listen to them every week and they are soooo annoying after awhile. _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow. - James Dean |

Either those songs are played too often or that's the price of being online too often _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

I must confess I get also bored with the "Transformers" score. OK, it is a good soundtrack, but that good? Not for me... _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |

Gravedigging. Do we care about that here?
Okay, what is the story behind Songs, the album by Fra Lippo Lippi? What movie does it represent, if any? Because I just heard "I'm Coming Home" and once I woke up, I found myself wondering if the CD had been imported to the wrong station.
Same for the Luba album, Chain Reaction. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

Yeah, I noticed the error immediately after I made it. I corrected it on the spot, but for some reason it didn't take affect. It should be ok now. Let me know if otherwise. Thanks! _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus
