It would be cool to come up with or at least discuss the top 10 film score moments in movies _________________ "My Logic is Undeniable" - I, Robot |

I totally agree with nate.
All the "Movie Music Moments" I ever experienced are connected to scores.
The selction here involved:
4 movies I've actually seen
2 movies I've heard of and4 movies I don't know and from the looks of it couldn't care less about Sorry, but I watched the youtube snippets and just thought WTF??? (*yawn*)
Scores, on the other hand... let's see what I can come up with:
Speed "Helen Dies"
I, Robot "Theme"
POTC I "Underwater March"
Stars Wars "Imperial Theme"
Star Trek "Anything" ...but especially the theme music
Titus "..." (forgot the title, the "Return of the King" original)
.......eh........ (tracks in no particular order and these were just the ones I came up with without really thinking about it)
CONCLUSION:
SCORES RULE!!!!

I think the idea is to tie a particular score to a particular moment in the movie (where it was used, of course).
I submit, off the top of my head:
Binary Sunset from A New Hope
or
whatever is playing in Jurassic Park when they first see the dinosaurs.
So, when I went to YouTube to find clips, I found this which I think will be of more interest to our listeners here:

You can find both of my examples in the collection.
Enjoy.

Absolutely iconic! I agree. Although, frankly, I find most music from Star Wars to be like that. When I first got the Star Wars score I listened to the whole 2 discs with goose bumps from start to finish reliving every moment of the film.
I also think the first time you watched Star Trek TMP and the Klingons.
The music that plays when Deckard flies over LA in Blade Runner by Vangelis - awesome.
Of course, Also sprach Zarathustra from 2001.
I always remember the sequences from both Terminator films when the Connors are being chased and intrinsically think of the music, although I don't own the scores.
I'm sure there are many others.
This is a really good thread!
Ooooh! Edit! Wild Signals from Close Encounters! Are there five more famous notes from film? That sequence of music with the mothership is amazing! |

Well, ironically, I would add that certain game soundtracks will do the same. I again refer to Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. You remember when you experienced an event or were in a certain place when the music came on. A GOOD videogame soundtrack will bring you back to those times. _________________ I do not wake up with thoughts of control and rebellion, but thoughts of purpose and righteousness and the empowerment to fulfill those convictions that define me. |

For a great score moment, I nominate "The White Tree" from LOTR:ROTK. Fantastic buildup, and then the Gondor theme plays majestically over the scenes of the beacons being lit, and it's one of the few moments in the trilogy where I stop my running commentary, and just watch the movie and listen to the score. And I love the solo trumpet line (at 2:41 on the regular CD release)! _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

In regards to songs not scores...
I think Love Actually has several moments that I will always associate w/ a particular song. I know the movie is perhaps too new, or not widely viewed to get that kind of rating. But can you see anything other than Hugh Grant dancing when you hear Jump?
