Interstate '76 Soundtrack on YouTube
Hello again, SST! This is my 2nd request and it's been awhile since my first one, but I'm back with a good one!
Being an avid game player, I have come to recognize some great (and not so great) game soundtracks. If I were to make a top 5 list of my favorite game soundtracks, Interstate '76 would be in there, if not at the top of the list.
The game itself is set in the '70s (of course!), however in an alternate reality where vehicular combat is rampant (think Twisted Metal or Death Race). You play as different characters from a band of vigilantes that seek out their own form of justice. The game allows you to customize your vehicle with machine guns, rockets, traps, and the like to better defeat your enemies.
As for the soundtrack, what better way to represent the era than over 45 minutes of funk music? From the upbeat guitar of "Never Get Outta the Car" to the funky bassline of "Revenge Rocco Style", the music definitely gives off the right '70s funk vibe. The "Interstate '76 Theme" also seems like it was ripped directly from a '70s cop show intro. If you're a fan of funk, you will love this album and even if you're not, you will still enjoy it.
A rather rare, hard-to-find album but I think it well deserves a spot here on SST. |

I voted "yes". Totally forgot that i loved that game (and the music) so much at the end of the 90's. Long time ago =) I think its a good idea to add some funk to the database.

I voted 'maybe'. I'm not really a big fan of '70s funk.

Since it seems to be indeed a rare cd, the asking price on amazon.com's marketplace is close to USD 75.00! I think that unless someone is willing to donate this album to SST, this doesn't really have that big of a chance to be added... (IMHO). |

Galfin is right.
However, one way to make it possible is for several people to go in together on purchasing it (that is, if people want it and JERIC approves it for the playlist.)
Last year several SSTers pooled to buy Elmer Bernstein's Film Music Collection (1975-1979), a 12-CD collection from ScreenArchives, that cost $200. |

Yeah, I did notice that the price was rather steep. However, I would not have posted it if I didn't believe it deserved a place here on SST and I would be willing to pitch in if others do.
Also, sorry for the lack of samples outside of YouTube. It was difficult to find any at all, really. |
