Umm... I guess.

I mean, sure, I recognize all of those, but I feel like some were left out. Like the scores everyone knows, even if they can't place where it comes from. Score that has entered our vocabulary, like the theme from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. "Circle of Life" -- seriously?

Of course, listening to SST as much as I have over the past 5 years, I recognize a heck of a lot more, and can rattle off composer names with a nerdiness that stuns the uninitiated. Like that one time with my husband in some cheap eatery in Universal Studios:

"Hey! This is the end credits music for Bubba Ho-Tep! What's that doing here?"
"It sounds like Children of Dune."
"It should; this is what Bryan Tyler wrote just before..."

And so on. I don't know what passers-by make of these conversations.

'Jaws' is missing. As well as 'Jurassic Park.'

Aside from Williams, what about Silvestri's Back to the Future theme?

The ones that are featured on the list certainly are recognizable--I'll give them that. Like others have said, where is Jaws? Where is Jurassic Park? Where is the Good, Bad, and Ugly? A couple on there I definitely don't recognize as "I know where that's from!" Also...Luke's theme? That's the main title theme, and even that is interweaved with Princess Leia's theme....not Luke's (even if Luke officially has a theme to call his own). :p Guy kind of lost all credibility there when he can't even name the pieces he's presenting.

I guess with lists like these you never can please everyone. Wink

John Williams has a lot of recognizable sounds.
Maybe the list should be from him only.
The most recognizable JW sounds Smile

The problem with JW... is that after a while, there are some tracks of his, I can't tell if they were from ET, Superman, Indy, or Star Wars.

At least Glass has the sensibility to keep his repeats in the same que. *ducks to avoid the tomatoes*

They should add Pirates of the Caribbean, in stead of Braveheart or the Godfather.
I know that here among the soundtrack fans PotC is not the most popular (though still a very good one), but to the rest of the world PotC is very recognisable due to the many orchestras that practiced with it. Nearly everyone with a few years of experience in any instrument has probably tried it.

Star Wars being no. 1 is very obvious Wink

Hrmpf... I don't think you can just compile a list about how "recognizable" something is...

Recognizable for WHOM? I don't think my Father knows the same Scores I do...

However... I know most of them, but some only since strolling around @ SST Wink

I would also say that many tracks are missing, but, surprise, how do you satisfy decades of movie scores in just 10 tracks? Even if it's only about recognizability. And i would agree that for example E.T. is missing...

When reading through the list I was able to play all the songs in my head except Braveheart. I had no idea what that track sounded like before I played it so I agree with Ghostkeeper that they should have had a different track like Pirates of the Caribbean.

I think the list is subjective
