I am asking a question for a friend. He thinks that not many people would know Icarus.
second post your thoughts as to a business named Icarus Management. What is your first thought? _________________ Try SCE to AUX! |

Well Icarus is known for 'failed ambition' so I don't think that would be a good name for a company... _________________ The right song can turn an emperor into a laughing stock, can bring down dynasties. A song can last long after the events and people in it are dust and dreams are gone. |

Still Icarus symbolizes the young man's arrogance and ambition to do anything!! No limits to Icarus! That is how his name is known here in Greece "no limits"! He lacks wisdom of age that's all! So his flying that high to melt his wax wings was not fair... We have a whole sea named after him Icarion Sea! The sea he fell into when falling from the sky! Icarus never got old to "know" ! His father Daedalus made it with the same kind of wings but no one remembers him for this flight!
Ikarus is considered a good name for a company! High goals with no stopping no matter what! Despite the outcome Icarus's flight was worth it while it lasted! |

Icarus for me sounds like a young fool who believes he can do anything but failed cause he's gone too far. I wouldn't trust an "Icarus Management" personnaly.

I know Hungarian city buses named Ikarus. They were very popular in Polish cities in 1980s and 1990s. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

I agree with those above who point out that it's probably not best for a business name. If Icarus' father's name were more memorable I'd go with that.

For those who watched Stargate Atlantis the father's name is memorable _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Yep. And I agree again with those who feel the name Icarus evokes a sense of inexperience and over-confidence. That said, I don't know if Daedalus would be as recognizable here (if Istagi's friend is in the U.S.). |

Not sure abour dedalus name neither. He is well-known for creating labyrinth in which you can never escape. Is that a good way to be manage? _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |

Daedalus name is connected to complications! In Greece we would never pick such a name for a company as we use the word to describe difficulties, complications and adventure in labyrinths both literary and metaphorically.
I don't know what the company seeking a name deals with... but there is another ancient Greek name connected to flight and the SUN and that is Faethon! That is the sun's son riding on a chariot flying on the sky all day!! |
