Michael Richard Plowman’s Score Is A Modern War Masterpiece
(May 9, 2011- New York, NY) – Moviescore Media (www.moviescoremedia.com) is proud to announce the release of the Age of Heroes soundtrack composed by Michael Richard Plowman (George of the Jungle, Hunt to Kill). The film is the true story of the formation of Ian Fleming's 30 Commando Unit, a precursor for the elite forces in the UK, and stars Sean Bean, Danny Dyer, Izabella Miko, and James D’arcy.
For the past 30 years, London, Los Angeles & Vancouver based composer Michael Richard Plowman has been composing award winning and internationally recognized music, touching audiences in over 120 countries. Plowman’s passion for creativity began in his birthplace of England where he learned to play the trumpet at the early age of three. His love and talent of music quickly grew, as did his aspirations. He began teaching himself different orchestral instruments. Over the course of his school years, Plowman was a member of jazz and rock groups, playing gigs at local clubs, and at 14 landed his first commercial television job. At 16 he received a recording contract and produced his first album, "The Now Sounds of Today."
Plowman works with many of the major players in the industry world wide; including Sony Pictures Television, BBC, Cartoon Network, WB, 20th Century Fox, New Line Cinema, MTV, Nickelodeon, Disney, A&E, Discovery, Animal Planet & Stephen King. He has written over 150 scores to date in live-action, animation, film and games including Hunt to Kill, George of the Jungle, A Dangerous Man, Trucks, Never Cry Werewolf, Splinter Cell, Alien Agent, and Polar Storm.
Based on the true story of the formation of the 30 Commandos, one of the most respected, secretive, and exclusive Special Forces regiment formed during the Second World War, from which the now legendary SAS was born.
After weeks of mentally intense and physically grueling training ops where the highly esteemed Captain Jones (Sean Bean) tests his men to their breaking point, his ‘Commando’ unit is quickly assigned their first mission; to parachute into occupied Norway and capture a deadly new radar technology from the Germans. But as they soon get near the drop-zone, the newly formed band-of-brothers crash land in a Norwegian village where Nazis have been mercilessly executing civilians …
The film depicts the formation of Ian Flemming’s commandos, and the director, Adrian Vitoria, wanted the sound of a modern war movie. Michael Plowman described, “The melodic strength of the great old war movies, but the aggressive, percussive and thick orchestration of today’s film scoring sound.”
To achieve this, “Age of Heroes has three main themes that are fragmented or manipulated to make up a few minor themes,” said Plowman. The ‘hero theme’ which is “a rousing motif heralding back the great war movies of the past,” the Age of Heroes theme, “which also serves as our main character motif: Private Rains the rebel trying to prove himself,” and the ‘death theme,’ “a building of chromatic tensions on a constant tonic.”
Metrodome Films presents Age of Heroes, in theaters in the UK on May 20, 2011. Age of Heroes – Original Soundtrack from Moviescore Media will be available digitally and in stores on May 17, 2011.
