(June 17, 2011- New York, NY) – Moviescore Media (www.moviescoremedia.com) is proud to announce the release of Ways to Live Forever (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) composed by Cesar Benito (Mía Sarah).
Cesar Benito is a Los Angeles-based composer hailing from Marbella, Spain. His recent works include the critically-acclaimed film Mía Sarah, for which he won several awards and nominations. Other works for TV include the smash hit series La Chica de Ayer (Spanish remake of the BBC show Life on Mars) and Los Protegidos.
Benito has also worked as a producer, arranger, orchestrator, conductor, performer and music director of a wide variety of shows like The Emperor's Jazz Orchestra, the American Society of Music Arrangers & Composers Big Band, the Boston Conservatory Orchestra, Musicals, Choral ensembles, International folk festivals featuring Symphonic Flamenco and other events like the Opening Gala & Unveiling of the Ricardo Montalban Theater in Hollywood–Where he also accompanied on the Piano to Broadway star, recording artist and Grammy, Tony and Emmy Award winner Robert Goulet.
Cesar graduated Magna Cum Laude in Film Scoring and Contemporary Writing & Production from Berklee College of Music, Boston. He also holds degrees in Music Theory, Piano and Composition by the Conservatories of Malaga and Madrid in Spain as well as a Diploma in Industrial Engineering by the University of Malaga.
Sam is twelve years old and loves to collect stories and strange phenomena. He wants to know about UFOs and scary films, aircrafts and ghosts. He also wants to know what it's like to have a sip of beer, to sneak your first drag on a cigarette, to kiss a girl for the first time...
Sam wants to know what teenagers feel like, because he will not live to be one. He has Leukemia, and even though adults reply with ambiguity and try to avoid some subjects, Sam wants to know all the facts and details concerning death. He is willing to find out the answers to the questions that nobody wants to answer, and he decides to write a book. A book that will be a diary about himself, but also a "scientific investigation" with observations, lists of proven facts about things that someday he will do before he dies.
“When I read the script,” explained Benito, “I thought the director Gustavo Ron would want me to write a very sad, profound, and tear-jerker score. But on our first conversation about the subject, he told me he had something else in mind. Gustavo wanted the score to be light, bright, even uplifting, playing in the background like a gentle breeze and evolve along with the story.”
Sam’s best friend is a boy named Felix, another boy who has Leukemia. The two boys are like Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. But both boys are dying; medicines aren’t working. As a result the music also takes a sadder tone
Said Benito, “the music slows down, becomes less active melodically and harmonically, and little by little it turns more serious and somber. The symphonic sound of the orchestra gives way to atmospheric and ethereal textures that convey the uneasiness, the worry and the sadness the kids and their families are facing. The music never really gets dark or utterly sad, but rather contemplative and sensitive.”
European Dreams Factory presents Ways to Live Forever. The Ways to Live Forever (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) from Moviescore Media will be available digitally and on CD on June 21, 2011.
