|
The voting will take place summer 2011.
Now it is the time to nominate your favorites of 2010
The composer must composed soundtracks that were original released in 2010 and since it is the SST Awards it must be in the library of SST.
Please submit your nomination(s) here. You may nominate as many as you want but not the same entry more than once.
Nominations are open to VIP members, as well as regular members, but final voting will only be open for VIP members. SST staff will select a pool that VIPs will vote for!
Deadline for nominations: June 30th, 2011 _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Alexandre Desplat - Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1
Danny Elfman - Alice In Wonderland
John Powell - How To Train Your Dragon
Hans Zimmer - Inception
Looks like I picked the most popular scores this year and Harry Potter. I'm not just jumping on the bandwagon or being a fan girl though, I truly enjoyed these 4 scores the most this year and I feel the composers behind them did a fantastic job and need to be recognized. _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow. - James Dean

Having read through some of the nominations, I'm wondering what criteria people are using. I ask this not because I'm picking on anyone's choices, but because so few people say why they are nominating someone, so I feel like I'm just supposed to know.
So, personally, what do you think it takes to be composer of the year? If it's just writing one good score, then why not nominate the score in one of the other categories? This is basically what the Academy does (whether or not you agree with their conclusions.)
Maybe it's the teacher in me, but I like to see reasoning and people show their work. It also occurs to me that a concept like "best composer" may mean different things to different people, so I'm curious about your definitions. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

As for myself, I want to nominate people who did a very good job : composing for many good scores or at least one very astonishing one.
"good" or "astonishing" are of course defined by my personnal perception. _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |
